What is a good rate?
To answer this age-old question, several of our member organisations have created a rate calculator.
As an author and a provider, you should be the one setting your remuneration. Yet more often than not, your client will offer you a take it or leave it rate. First, know that negotiation is always a good idea, the worst than can happen is your client saying "sorry but no" and our survey shows translators who negotiate generally earn more than the ones who don't. Second, how to assess the offered rate?
These calculators empowers you to translate any offered rate – whether it's per minute, per word, or per subtitle – into a realistic monthly take-home wage.
